WHAT WE OFFER

We offer cohort support for teachers seeking National Board Certification.  All classes are designed to be collaborative with engagement from participants.  The classes are offered through Zoom which allows us to virtually communicate as a whole group and in partners.

Session 1:  Planning/Standards/Rubrics (3.5 hours)

In this session we will work together to review what you know so far.  We will spend time reading Standards, looking at the Rubrics and making a plan for your year.  We will also discuss the Three Types of Writing.

Session 2, 3, 4, 5:  These are dedicated to each individual Component. (3.5 hours)

In each session we will dig into one of the components (see calendar for schedule).  We will read and discuss the directions, learn more about what is expected and share resources that will support you as you pursue each Component.

Session 6:  Revising (3.5 hours)

In this session we will share the best ways to revise your written commentaries, as well as read a colleague's paper.  How do you ask yourself and others effective questions that allow them to demonstrate evidence of their practice?  We will share draft papers with each other and give feedback.

Session 7:  Uploading (2 hours)

In this session we will give you tips for your electronic submission.  We will help you upload your components and evidence.

Office Hours (2 hours)

These are open sessions in which you can ask questions, have us review your videos or a portion of your written commentary.  How can we further support you?

Advanced Candidate Support (Retake candidates)

You will receive an individual session in which we meet with you to review your score report and feedback.  We will then use the NB Score Calculator to help you plan your next steps.  You also will receive support in one Component of your choice.  You also have the opportunity to attend the Revising, Uploading and Office Hours.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC):  New renewal process

Your sessions will include an Orientation session, three-2 hour sessions and Office Hours.

Reading of a Written Commentary:

We will read 1 written commentary, offer feedback and discuss your commentary with you in a debrief session.   You do not need to attend cohort support for this service.
